Privacy policy
SudoLens for iPhone, iPad and Mac
Last updated: 24 October 2026
SudoLens is made by Richard de Weerd. This policy explains what happens to your data when you use SudoLens on iPhone, iPad or Mac.
The short version: SudoLens doesn't collect any data. There's no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking, and we have no server. Everything you do in SudoLens stays on your devices and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud storage. We can't see any of it.
Camera and photos
When you scan a sudoku with the camera, or pick a photo or image, SudoLens reads the grid on your device. Only the photo you pick reaches SudoLens; the system photo picker never gives it access to the rest of your photo library. The scan is kept with the puzzle in your library, so you can compare it with the givens later. It's never sent to us or anyone else.
Your library and progress
Your puzzles, your games, their scans, your solve times and your practice progress are stored on your device.
iCloud sync
If you're signed in to iCloud, SudoLens syncs your library, scans and practice progress between your devices through your private iCloud database. That data is stored by Apple under your Apple Account, under Apple's privacy policy, and only you can read it. We don't have access to it.
You can turn sync off in SudoLens's Settings; nothing is deleted when you do. To remove SudoLens's data from iCloud, go to your device's Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage (on a Mac: System Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage) and delete SudoLens's data there.
Children
SudoLens is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, children included.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears on this page with a new date.
